About Local Shift
A small project that makes simple spreadsheet tools for freelance interpreters.
We make two things: a free earnings and mileage tracker, and the $15 Interpreter Business Kit for assignments, invoices, mileage, expenses and a yearly summary. Both are spreadsheets you download and keep.
What we are, and what we are not
We make spreadsheets. We are not interpreters, accountants or lawyers. That is why the guides on this site are general organizing checklists, and why nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice. For questions like what you can deduct, which mileage rate to use or what belongs in a contract, please ask your tax preparer, your agencies or your professional association.
How we build
We build from how freelance interpreters describe their billing in public: hourly rates, minimum blocks, flat fees, travel and unpaid invoices that need chasing. Everything is a standard .xlsx file with no macros, add-ons or logins, so your records stay in a file you control. We test the files in Google Sheets and LibreOffice. They should open in Excel, but we have not tested Excel.

- No promises about income or results.
- No subscriptions. The kit is a one-time purchase and the tracker is free.
